me and xanga and you

okay ... here's the scoop ... sad, and difficult as it may be for some of us!

and, yes, it is for me ... not in so much that xanga is closing, but more that i wasn't as faithful to my friends over the past couple of years, and feeling so very guilty for that! friendships are meant to be nurtured and treasured!

and now i'm here asking you to forgive me ...

i've missed the closeness i had with the very special friends i met there ... and if you do make it here, and
see this, please know that i've never forgotten you!  in fact, i'm copying all the special 'notes' (in the xanga message archives) ... ones that you and i shared through the years, and yes, i am saving them ... like old letters that you just can't part with!

xanga - yes we have a history, and one i will always hold dear in my heart ...

it was my first online blog ...

it became a place where i could connect with 'kindred spirits', a place to share my faith, my family, my sorrows, my joys, all the ups and downs we encounter on the road of life, and i felt very safe in doing so!

to my dear xanga friends ... i do pray you find this ... I want to thank you for being there, loving me, encouraging me, laughing with me, crying with me. i hope to find many of you, and if you decide to continue to blog, or even just to drop by here to read every now and then, well, i really want to stay in touch, so please leave your name and where you'll be making a new home, as well as your original xanga name below in the comment box.  i'll also see if there is a 'follow' gadget somewhere that will make it even easier to see when i post. if you want to stay in even closer touch, my email address is below ... that will not change!

and, to all who happen here that are 'new' .... welcome!!

now on with the news ....

xanga.com is trying to make money to keep the boat afloat.

if they do not 'plug the leak' ...

it will sink. :(

and if that does happen,
i have moved here to 'blogger' to see how this platform works,
and ya know, so far i like it!

{*note: please excuse the mess on my page ... i'm trying to transplant my graphics from xanga into the 'gadgets' here so as to make my page look like my first home on 'xanga', i figure that way i might not miss it so much!  i had copied and pasted my 'look and feel' modules here in their 'gadgets' to see if they would show up, and they did!  i will be changing what's in them, as i did on xanga, but first i need to figure out just exactly how to do that ... and one other thing, if xanga does go away, so might all those cute little graphics, as i've noticed they are 'linked' to the xanga photoblog ... oh well, all i can say is, it's a good thing i love a challenge!}
back to the news ... now, if they do raise the needed funds,
they are planning to switch to 'xanga 2.0' and migrate over to 'wordpress'.

because of this possibility, i've also been fiddling around with a 'wordpress' site as well,
(link coming soon) to see if i would like that platform better ... and ya know, i'm not so sure,
but give me a little more time to find my way around over there!  some of the 'transplanted'
xangans may like it, but it's a bit more difficult to navigate than 'blogger' ...
but that's just my opinion on what i've learned thus far ...

but, in the event xanga does stay afloat, and they do make the move, i would be able to use the .zip file they created for us to transplant everything from our xanga sites to the wordpress platform ...
hopefully, with one easy 'click'!!

in the meantime, this is where i'll be 'hangin' my hat', and i so hope to see my xanga friends following along here ... and more comments from you below!

{please share your name / your xanga name / new blog address}

for now, i see change ... a new beginning ahead for 'threads of faith'!  actually this change with xanga has motivated me to get back in touch with those sweet friends of mine, and to stay in closer touch! yes, change leads to a new beginning, and i so hope you'll join me on my journey!

love and blessings to you all!

  1. Hi Debi! I've had a blogger for a long time but haven't used it a lot. I wonder what is going to happen with Xanga. Even though I haven't used it a lot lately it still feels like home and I made so many friends with it.

    1. Christy, you will do just fine here on Blogger, and I am soooo glad you're here, too! I have no idea what's going to happen with Xanga, either, but if they do close, in just hours now, some of the graphics here on my page may disappear! lol! A lot of it is linked with Xanga's Photo section. It's going to be interesting to see what it will look like! I'm already missing Xanga .. that's why I tried getting this to look like my page there ... so how'd I do? lol!!

      I'm sitting here going through my messages and collecting some of the more important ones ... too bad they didn't have a .zip file for those! Anyway, if you have any questions about Blogger, and if I can help, just let me know. I've gotten pretty familiar with it ... WordPress is a little more complicated, but I've got one there, too, just in case Xanga 2.0 does relaunch and we can transfer everything from our archives. I'd like to do that here, but I'm not sure how! I'll be following you here in my dashboard reader, so I hope to see some posts from you, too! :) It will be good to stay in touch somewhere other than Facebook ... and I know you'll find some of those friends around here that you made on Xanga!! I already have! You have a blessed week!!
